  • Anxiety is a response to stress that can manifest in various forms, including feelings of worry, fear, or apprehension. It is characterized by physical symptoms such as increased heart rate, sweating, restlessness, and fatigue. While everyone experiences anxiety at times, it becomes a concern when it interferes with daily life or leads to excessive or persistent worry. Anxiety disorders include generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), panic disorder, social anxiety disorder, and specific phobias. These disorders can lead to significant impairment in social, occupational, and other important areas of functioning. Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) is one of the most widely used therapeutic approaches, helping individuals identify and challenge negative thought patterns and develop coping strategies.

Addressing anxiety in a timely and effective manner is crucial for overall mental health and well-being.

  • Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is a mental health condition characterized by persistent, unwanted thoughts (obsessions) and repetitive behaviors or mental acts (compulsions) that individuals feel driven to perform. The obsessions often lead to significant anxiety or distress, prompting the person to engage in compulsive behaviors in an attempt to alleviate that discomfort. We regularly treat all themes of OCD with no judgment. OCD is treated using Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) using our many years of experience and training.

  • Tics are sudden, repetitive movements or sounds that individuals make, often involuntarily. They can manifest in various forms, including motor tics, which involve physical movements such as blinking, head jerking, or facial grimacing, and vocal tics, which may include throat clearing, grunting, or uttering words and phrases. Stress, excitement, and fatigue can exacerbate tics. The treatment for Tics includes Habit Reversal Training (HRT). Understanding and addressing the impact of tics on daily functioning is crucial for those affected and their families.

  • Depression is a common and serious mental health disorder that affects how a person thinks, feels, and handles daily activities. It is characterized by persistent feelings of sadness or a lack of interest in previously enjoyed activities.

At Delaware Therapy Services, we always approach depression as a treatable condition. Effective treatment may include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Behavior Activation.
